Mir Cavities & Wisdom Teeth

The earlier cavities and wisdom teeth are treated,

the less the burden.

Manage cavities and wisdom teeth early through regular check-ups!

The earlier a cavity is detected and treated, the more you can reduce financial and time-related burdens.

Once a cavity develops, it does not heal naturally, and if left untreated, it may lead to tooth loss.

Wisdom teeth should also be extracted at the appropriate time to protect gum health.

Stages and Treatment of Cavities

  • Stage 1 : Enamel Cavities

Decay occurs on the enamel surface and typically presents no noticeable symptoms. It is usually detected during regular check-ups.

    Treatment

Simple cavity treatment and preventive care can stop further progression.
  • Stage 2 : Dentin Cavities

Decay extends into the dentin layer, causing sensitivity or mild pain.

    Treatment

The decayed portion is removed and restored with materials such as resin or inlay.
  • Stage 3 : Pulpitis

Decay reaches the dental pulp (nerve), resulting in increased sensitivity to temperature and significant pain.

    Treatment

Root canal treatment is required to remove the infected pulp, followed by prosthetic treatment (crown).
  • Stage 4 : Pulp Necrosis

Infection spreads along the nerve tissue to the alveolar bone and gums. Depending on severity, crown treatment may be possible, but extraction may be necessary in advanced cases.

    Treatment

Prosthetic treatment or implant treatment may be required.

Advantages

Disadvantages

Resin

  • Similar in color to natural teeth, providing good esthetic results
  • Treatment is usually completed in a single visit
  • Less durable than inlays and may fracture
  • May discolor or detach over time

Inlay (Gold)

  • Strong and resistant to fracture under chewing force
  • Relatively low recurrence rate of cavities
  • Long-lasting with proper maintenance
  • Not esthetic
  • High thermal conductivity, which may cause sensitivity to temperature

Inlay (Ceramic)

  • Tooth-colored, offering excellent esthetic results
  • Stable under temperature changes (minimal expansion or contraction)
  • Porcelain material may fracture under strong impact

※ All procedures (surgery, treatment, etc.) may involve potential side effects. Accurate diagnosis and sufficient consultation with medical professionals are required.

Mir Wisdom Teeth

Do Wisdom Teeth Always Need to Be Extracted?

Because wisdom teeth often cause various problems, extraction is generally recommended.
In particular, when the tooth is located close to a nerve, sufficient clinical experience is especially important.

Problems Caused by Wisdom Teeth

  • Features 01

When a wisdom tooth erupts at an angle, food can become trapped, leading to cavities in the adjacent front or molar teeth.

  • Features 02

If an upper wisdom tooth over-erupts, food may become lodged and press against the lower gum tissue, causing pain.

  • Features 03

Decay in a wisdom tooth can result in significant discomfort.

  • Features 04

If a decayed wisdom tooth is left untreated, infection may spread to the root tip, leading to pain, facial swelling, and difficulty opening the mouth.
